Sure, we teach about figs, sell premium fig cuttings, and questionable merchandise.
But that’s honestly the least interesting part of what we’re building.
Fig Around Find Out is a community of gardeners, collectors, backyard orchard nerds, homesteaders, first-time growers, and people who accidentally turned one fig tree into a full-blown obsession.

Why We Do It
Here’s a little secret.
Fig Around Find Out was never really about figs.
Figs are just the gateway.
Someone buys a cutting because they thought our mascot was funny.
Then they learn how to root cuttings.
Then they grow fruit.
Then they plant another tree.
Then they start a garden.
Then maybe a compost pile.
Maybe some chickens.
Maybe a greenhouse.
Maybe an entire backyard food forest.
Before long, they aren’t just growing figs anymore.
They’re growing confidence.
Every rooted cutting teaches a new skill.
Every harvest reminds you that you’re capable of more than you thought.
That’s the real mission.

About the Founder
Hi, I’m Micah.
Long before Fig Around Find Out existed, I was simply someone who couldn’t stop planting things.
Over the past two decades I’ve planted orchards, built gardens, experimented with propagation, restored landscapes, studied soil, designed permaculture systems, and, perhaps most importantly, killed more plants than I’d ever care to admit.
Those failures became some of my best teachers.
Along the way I became a Certified Arizona Master Gardener, a Certified Colorado Master Gardener, and earned my Permaculture Design certification through Oregon State University. I also spent more than fifteen years working in agricultural businesses, giving me a chance to see both the science and the business behind growing food.
But credentials only tell part of the story.
The real education happened outside.
Late frosts.
Unexpected pests.
Failed experiments.
Plants that refused to cooperate.
And those unforgettable moments when something finally worked exactly the way I’d hoped.
Those experiences shaped what I believe today:
- Anyone can learn to grow food.
- Nobody starts as an expert.
- Every dead plant is tuition.
- And confidence grows one successful harvest at a time.
That’s why you’ll never find gatekeeping here.
No intimidation.
No talking down to beginners.
Just honest advice, practical education, a healthy dose of humor, and premium plants I’d proudly grow in my own garden.
